1. Don’t ever jump through hoops. This is essential in finding a good job for stay-at-home moms, because there is so much garbage out there. The last thing you want is to begin work at a job, only to find out you didn’t “qualify” for your own commissions/paycheck. If the job you are seeking seems too complicated , then it probably is. Look for a stay-at-home mom job where you can simply provide a service or item and get paid with no difficult to decipher fine print.

2. Find something you’re passionate about. There are a variety of reasons you may be trying to find a job as a stay-at-home mom. However, we know one of those reasons likely has to do with needing some additional income. But, more than anything, you want to make sure that whatever job you end up doing excites your passions. If you are not passionate about your endeavor, then you’re probably not going to be driven to succeed or really influence others. Find a stay at home mom job that matches your personality and passions, whether it’s painting, exercising, sales, bobsledding or cooking.

3. Ask other stay-at-home moms who are working from home what they are doing. Ask them how they got started and whether there is room for you to join them. Don’t make them feel obliged to help you but often many will be more than happy to offer advice and introductions where relevant.

4. Avoid low paying, menial tasks. Do not take less than you are worth. Envelope stuffing and catalog delivery becomes very repetitive and never pays well; don’t fall into the excuse that accepting low pay is just to get you started. It has a horrible way of sapping time and energy and preventing you from following the right track. Low pay also tends to reduce your self-esteem and many of these lower paid industries are not regulated clearly, if at all, by government rules, meaning that you can lose out if you’re not careful.

Works at home moms really do make for the happiest homemakers. Instead being exhausted and tired at the end of the day, they will invigorated and refreshed with a feeling of triumph that they have made a difference in their family and a difference in the world. So, husbands encourage and support your wives when they ask you to help them or morally support them staying at home and starting their own business. You will reap the benefits as much as she does.
